Meeting up with Old Friends in a Sanctuary
The drive into New Hampshire from Maine is beautiful and easy. As we come into the quaint little town of Jaffrey, we head into a total sanctuary to meet up with dear friends we haven't seen in 15 years!!
Black Pea Farm welcomes and we are giddy as we make the drive up the drive, finding a koi pond, wild turkeys, stone sculptures and a lovely home. As we call to check to be sure we're in the right place, Deb DePaul welcomes us enthusiastically. While we wait for her husband to join, she offers wine, cheese and crackers and gives a quick tour of their wonderful paradise. When Jim comes in, he's as welcoming as she, and within no time we're completely at home.
Catching up over a delicious vegetarian meal is very fun and we visit after until we can no longer keep eyes open. A restful sleep is welcomed after our long drive.
The morning brings a gorgeous day and we explore the grounds further. It is an amazing place the two have created the past ten years and we are incredibly grateful to be allowed to share in their special world.
No trip to Black Pea can be experienced without a tractor ride, it seems. So, Jim cranks one of his prize vehicles and instructs each of us on proper driving techniques. We can't remember when we've had such pure fun!
Looks like we've been doing this for years, don't you think?!?
