On The Road Again

Amazingly, the night over in Tok is one of the most comfortable we experience in this great wilderness. There is nothing else in Tok. But, the highway in from Taylor, the hotel accommodations here and the highway exiting toward Fairbanks may be one of our favorite stops on this great adventure. Heads up to the management and their ability to capitalize on this unique situation and provide some of the best facilities available in this great northwest territory.

Our journey from here the next morning begins with Lisa playing Willie Nelson's On The Road Again, it provokes the appropriate response from our traveling crew, as it sums up how we are all feeling at this point. The good news for today is the travel portion is short, a fun excursion en route and some beautiful scenery to witness along the way.

After witnessing some amazing scenery along our way, we are privileged to make a stop at a special place, Rika's Roadhouse, a genuine example of such accommodations available to those many fortune seekers during the gold rush years. This particular spot has been spectacularly kept in tact and gives not only a taste of that past time but a glorious spectacle of current time pleasures. A gift shop (requisite of Alaska visits), cafe serving some pretty terrific food, museum, and garden of splendor all provide plenty of visuals for these many tourists venturing in for a peek at this past. All such voyeurism is aptly accomplished amongst these grounds and we are truly appreciative of what they have provided for our entertainment. This truly is an amazing stop and the hour passes way too quickly.

Boarding the coach to continue our adventure toward gold digging comes all too soon. But, the excitement is definitely brewing. We all want to strike it rich!
