The Comforts of Home

Exhausted, we finish our time in DC, and a short trip to the suburbs lands us in Annapolis, home of my adopted daughter, Megan, and her wonderful husband, Floyd. As the weary travelers drag into their home, they are more than gracious, even after a long week themselves. This is the first "home" we've been in since our 6-week journey has begun, and it comes at the perfect time!!

Maryland is truly a beautiful state, the differences between Virginia and here are palpable. A trip downtown on a lazy but sunny Sunday afternoon brings an abundance of visitors, breathing in this marvelous springtime air and really enjoying the sights and sounds along the Chesapeake Bay.

We stroll, have lunch on the water and make our way to the Naval Academy. What a pristine and gorgeous campus is found! We spend longer here than anticipated as it is a visit to behold and with the fresh blooms and magnificent weather, it's difficult to pull ourselves away.

Our sunflower seeds are planted in a special pot at Floyd and Megan's, as Megan wins for the
"best" gardening tools to date. In addition to their amazing hospitality, they also give us each a tutorial on our blog - Floyd (a CNN photojournalist) and Meg (Bon Bon Rose Girls founder extraordinaire) are very patient while they give us both invaluable information. Thank you both so very very much!!!

As we leave this safe haven, we are acutely aware that we are now headed out to really unknown territory - the idea exhilarating and terrifying at once. But, this is what the adventure really is all about and we are anxious to explore all these new horizons. Wish us luck!!!
