The Mall

Our stay downtown with Ashley brings us very close to most there is to do here. A very short stroll brings us right onto the National Mall and all it has to offer. What a wealth of activity here! We start out at the Castle and take a peek at the gardens hidden behind.

The Hirshhorn houses beautiful sculptures inside and out and we marvel at the architecture of the building and views of the city.

We next arrive at the new American Indian Museum which again has some amazing architecture along with flowing fountains to welcome us in. In between the exhibits, we enjoy lunch at the cafe which boasts cuisine from the different regions of our ancestors. Buffalo is one ingredient found and Celeste can't resist her favorite lunch option burger. It does not disappoint.

East and West Galleries of Art are next on the agenda and, as always, overwhelm. The East Gallery has set up a temporary exhibit displaying many Impressionist works - my favorite!!! I stop and admire several Monets on this stop. Continuing outside we stroll through the amazing sculpture garden before continuing our museum crawl.

A stop in the Museum of Natural History is busier than any other tour today, as it is quite popular with the younger set. Several school groups share our space here but we still enjoy - Celeste is especially excited with all the gems!

Our ability to visit all of these different museums today and for free never ceases to amaze me! What a gift we have here!!!
